The company
Revelara (from the latin “to reveal”) is a software company headquartered in San Mateo, California. We build a reliability risk platform for engineering teams.
What we build
Revelara identifies reliability risks in your codebase before they become incidents, embedded directly in the AI coding tools your developers already use.
Every major observability platform is reactive. They detect problems in production. Revelara operates before code ships, connecting into the AI coding agents developers already use, like Claude Code and Cursor.
We look for three kinds of reliability risk:
- Known risks. Failure patterns we’ve already cataloged from 2,000+ real-world public incidents. Revelara scans code for their fingerprints and recommends controls from a 63-control compliance matrix, tracking evidence automatically.
- Compound risks. Individually-benign changes that combine into something dangerous. Revelara correlates signals across your applications and infrastructure to surface risks your engineers have context on but haven’t codified.
- Novel risks. Failures that emerge from how a system is assembled rather than from any single component. Revelara uses Systems-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) to reason about control and feedback relationships, so you can find these before your customers do.
Code is evolving faster than teams can reason about it. Revelara keeps your reliability posture evolving just as fast.
Team
Joseph Bironas, Founder

Joseph is an engineering leader and architect who has spent his career on infrastructure and reliability. He was at Google for twelve years, starting as a systems engineer working on distributed compute and storage, and later leading SRE automation work to reduce idle-machine time. After Google, he built and scaled SRE teams at a number of venture backed startups in a number of industries. He later returned to Google Cloud as a customer-facing architect, helping enterprise customers modernize their infrastructure and reliability practices.
He started Revelara because he kept seeing the same failure patterns preventing the move from reactive to proactive reliability management across every team he worked with: the hard-won lessons from postmortems stayed trapped inside individual engineers’ heads limiting organization-wide learning. Revelara is the system he wishes he’d had.
When he isn’t thinking about reliability, he’s playing guitar, tinkering with LED lighting, or making things out of wood.
